Please don’t forget that Michael Jackson had a severe vitiligo condition, which left his skin progressively without pigmentation.

He used makeup for years to attempt to even out his skin tone, but at that time there was no effective treatment for the condition, and it progressively worsened. Eventually he opted for chemical depigmentation, so that at least his face and hands would not be spotted and changing from time to time in color.

It is a canard that he didn’t like his skin tone, according to his own statements in public, and certainly as a young boy he had beautiful and dark skin.

As the parent of a son affected by vitiligo, please try to understand the embarassment that such a conditon may cause. Please refer to this interview and comments:http://floacist.wordpress.com/2007/06/12/full-information-on-vitiligo-michael-jackson/

Hi, Sally, I’ve known several people with vitiligo. I’ve addressed the topic of Michael Jackson and vitiligo in today’s post, “Quincy Jones says Michael Jackson didn’t have vitiligo.” Quincy Jones knew Michael better than almost anyone so I’m listening to what he says on the matter. Thanks for visiting Lisa’s History Room and God bless your son.

Who is the source? Remember that Quincy Jones hadn’t spoken to Michael in years since the Bad era (Quincy cut half of MJ’s tracks). At this point, I still believe that Michael had vitiligo since he was not only porcelain white, but also had signs of spontaneous pigmentation. If it was attributed solely to bleaching cream, then he would have been dead 20 years ago. Hydroquinones are very powerful and very toxic.

Quincy Jones made this statement in an interview with Details magazine. Thanks for visiting Lisa’s History Room. I appreciate your comments.
