Elvis was an expert at Kenpo Karate. His Karate name was Tiger.
On a flight from L.A. to Washington, D.C., on Dec. 21, 1970, Elvis wrote this letter to President Richard M. Nixon:
Mr. President:
First I would like to introduce myself. I am Elvis Presley and admire you and Have Great Respect for your office. I talked to Vice President Agnew in Palm Springs a week ago and expressed my concern for our country. The Drug Culture, The Hippie Elements, the SDS, Black Panthers, etc do not consider me as their enemy or as they call it The Establishment. I call it America and I Love it. Sir I can and will be of any Service that I can to help the country out. I have no concerns or motives other than helping the country out. So I wish not to be given a title or an appointed position, I can and will do more good if I were made a Federal Agent at Large, and I will help out by doing it my way through my communications with people of all ages.
December 21, 1970 letter from Elvis to President Nixon
First and Foremost I am an entertainer but all I need is the Federal credentials. I am on the Plane with Sen. George Murphy and We have been discussing the problems that our country is faced with. Sir I am Staying at the Washington hotel [sic] Room 505-506-507. I have 2 men who work with me by the name of Jerry Schilling and Sonny West. I am registered under the name of Jon Burrows. I will be here for as long as it takes to get the credentials of a Federal Agent. I have done in depth study of Drug Abuse and Communist Brainwashing Techniques and I am right in the middle of the whole thing, where I can and will do the most good. I am Glad to help just so long as it is kept very Private. You can have your staff or whomever call me anytime today tonight or Tomorrow. I was nominated the coming year one of America’s Ten Most outstanding young men. That will be in January 18 in my Home Town of Memphis Tenn. I am sending you the short autobiography about myself so you can better understand this approach. I would love to meet you just to say hello if you’re not too busy.Respectfully,
Elvis Presley
When he landed in Washington, Elvis checked into the Hotel Washington across the street from the White House. He then delivered the letter to the White House. A 12:30 meeting was hurriedly scheduled for Elvis to meet President Nixon in the Oval Office.

President Richard Nixon received Elvis Presley in the Oval Office, Dec. 21, 1970
At the meeting, Elvis made his pitch to the president to help him in his “drug drive” and to restore respect for the American flag. But what Elvis really wanted was a badge. Elvis had an abiding respect for law enforcement officials and had an extensive badge collection from his travels across the U.S. Elvis had become inflamed with the desire to be deputized by the federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD). This obsession was the whole purpose for his spur-of-the-moment, cross-country flight to Washington, D.C.

Badge presented to Elvis Presley deputizing him as a special agent of the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs
After lunch in the White House mess and a tour of the White House, Elvis was presented with the BNDD badge by BNDD deputy director John Finlator at White House aide Bud Krogh’s office. Finlator promised to send along additional credentials.
Dear Ms. Rogers,
I enjoyed your recent article about Elvis and his meeting with President Nixon.
What a lot of people may not know about that famous trip to Washington D.C. was that Elvis first went there after an argument with his father, Vernon over finances, to meet with Joyce Bova, a state department employee that Elvis had met in Las Vegas during one of his appearances there.
It was after he realized he had no way to find her and was alone that he flew to Los Angeles to pick up Jerry Schilling and it was that flight where he came up with the idea to write the letter to try and meet President Nixon.
Thank you for an interesting read and keep up the good work.

How wonderful of you to visit Lisa’s History Room and give us this background information. I have read that this trip away from Graceland was Elvis’ first along in 21 years. I have a question for you. Why was Elvis wanting to meet with Joyce Bova? Also, when Elvis went to L.A. he met with VP Agnew. This wasn’t just a chance meeting, was it?
All my best,
Lisa

Dear Lisa-
“ELVIS MEETS NIXON” just shows the events up to he meeting the pres. in December 1970. He wanted a DEA badge to help fight the drugs in America.
The video your wanting to see is the” ELVIS FILES” made in 1992. It has Gail Brewer and others talking about Elvis and his “death” back in 1977. Interesting stuff. Makes a person think? Many why questions once again, As always, you make the call.

Hi Lisa and Robert,
The “Elvis Files” is ridiculous and Gail Brewer Giorgio perpetuated the alive nonsense.
There is no evidence to suggest a faked death scenario because it did not happen.
I suggest the book “Elvis Decoded” by Patrick Lacy. He explains in detail why there is so much misinformation and rumor out there.

Thanks for the site tip. Readers will check it out. I don’t live on a horse ranch. I live in the Texas hill country in Austin. I love horses and everything Texas but I do not race horses. I live in a house with 6 dogs and 2 cats but ride horses whenever possible. My gravatar photo – wearing an English riding helmet – was taken in Barbados when I took a trail ride across the mountains to the Atlantic shore of the island.

I am a history major also. Yes on the Elvis “death.” The facts of he being alive out weight the stuff of Elvis being dead. For example, that picture that was given the “blessing “by Kodak. Elvis sitting in a chair looking out a screen door at morners? How would one explain that?

Robert Jones
Your In L.B.J. country than? He was big name there? A good pres. in my opinion.

Hey, Robert, I am not familiar of the picture that was given the blessing by Kodak. Can you send it to me?
Yes, I live in gorgeous LBJ country. LBJ did a lot of good with his civil rights reform but his Vietnam build-up was his downfall.
No one really idolizes LBJ in Texas. He was a consummate politician who loved himself above the Law. His U.S. Senate victory was ballot-rigged. His wife, Lady Bird, who just passed away, was one wonderful gal. She beautified our state with flowers and opposed billboards. Lisa

How about how the body of Elvis was put to rest? The body head is pointed East to meet the face of God. in Christian faith. “Elvis “is layed out South? His middle name is wrong? He loved his mom dearly. Why was he buried next to Verdon and grandmother? Interesing questions?
I think he was part of a Witness Protection Program by the DEA from 1976-1980? He may have had work done to change his appearance. No strange thing under witness protection and our government.

Hey, Robert,
Toward the end of his life, Elvis wasn’t well enough to be part of a conspiracy. If he were alive, he’d be exactly my mother’s age. So sad that drugs had to take over….

….. Don’t mean to get off track on your Elvis page. I will try to get that pic of Elvis for you. See this page http://www.orionjimmyellis.com/pressnews.html! This is the guy who wore Elvis type outfits and wore a mask from 1978-1980. Gail Brewer has some stuff to say on him also.
Yes L.B.J was “full of himself” but knew how to get things done. Lady Bird will alway be a good figure to me too. Strong person living with Lyndon all those years.
My lady friend knows Father John who married Lucy Bird Johnson in 1966 to former Sen. Robb I believe? I meet him. A nice man. Calls himself the “CELEBRITY PREIST.”

If Elvis did so many drugs then why would the DEA want to protect him?Or did he only do prescription drugs?

I don’t know anything about the DEA protecting Elvis. He thought he could do some spying for the gov’t in an undercover way since he was on the inside of the rock ‘n’ roll world. He considered the Beatles to be a bad influence on kids because of their drug-taking. The Beatles were sad to hear this, but that didn’t stop John from appreciating the influence Elvis had on his music. Elvis did not think of himself as a drug-taker because he had a dr. prescribing his stuff. Most addicts justify their drug usage and Elvis was an addict. The Federal Bureau of Dangerous Drugs and Substances was not aware that Elvis was an addict when they awarded him a badge. He never exercised any authority as a special agent for the government.

Really? Elvis didnt like the Beatles? I have another question: Do you think I should include in my report what everyone says about Elvis being rude in his most popular&later years? I dont want to make him look bad but its something many people have told me and it could also show what power&&fame can do to even the gentlest of people.

Hello. It’s not that Elvis didn’t like the Beatles, he just felt their drug-taking was a bad influence on young people. As for whether or not you should portray Elvis in a negative light or not, I would always check the validity of my sources before I put anything in print. Lisa

Hi,
I wrote the first authorized biography of EP: “Elvis Presley: The Man, The Life, The Legend” written with the assistance of the Elvis estate, Priscilla Presley, interviewed many of the Memphis Mafia, did research at the Graceland archives, etc. etc.
There are so many “tall tales” in regard to EP, and I would ask Priscilla or Jerry Schilling about them and they would just laugh and say, “That NEVER happened…” I got a kick out of all the people who claimed to be Elvis’s best friend, or told him what to do, and Jerry Shilling told me, “Believe me — NOBODY told Elvis what to do.”
I also find it sort of touching, all the conspiracists, and those who want to believe that Elvis is still alive (I write about this a bit in my book).
If you like, can check it out on my website — pamelakeogh.com. Also have a great Elvis biscuit recipe in the book — yum!
On the book tour, I met hundreds of women who dated EP and they all (independently of one another said the same thing) — EP had beautiful skin, he was a great kisser, and he loved women. (!)
BTW, Elvis was friends with the Beatles and had great respect for their talent. They all jammed together in the Hollywood Hills in the mid 1960s. When the Beatles first came to America they had one dream: to meet Elvis.
